As I sit bunkered into my apartment (-17 degrees being reported at the airport at 7:30 this morning.......rrrrright, I'm getting out of bed for THAT), I think here is the perfect ode to old man winter.

BUT WAIT.....here is a version of this video I have never seen, and with good reason.
I can just see Culture Club submitting the entire video and the execs at MTV SHITTING themselves.

Usual snowfall in Chicago for a winter is 36-40 inches.

Snowfall so far this winter is 30-32 inches.

Old Man Winter needs to FUCK RIGHT OFF!!!!!!

Retro Video #1 and #2

So having talked with some coworkers about Peter Gabriel and Howard Jones and who sang what, I thought this would be a fun new feature. It's POSITIVE and SILLY. The FYYFFies will pop up on occasion if called for. But this.....oh my.

So this week's video (#2) is inspired by the Peter Gabriel conversation. He was, at one time, the lead singer for Genesis. Then Phil took over. Then I remembered this moody and hysterical little video. Phil....so young and angry. He is emoting the FUCK out of this. HEH HEH, OW indeed.......



The video for last week (#1) is also from the conversation. Phil Collins played drums on Howard Jones' NOONE IS TO BLAME, a great song, but too low key for me (that is the 6 degrees thing, I'm not rambling....really). I remember him doing this at the House of Blues show about 9 or 10 years ago (Yep, I went - it was GREAT). Let it be the anthem for 2008. Marvel at his hair, that suit, the back-up "bridesmaid" singers, and why the Little Tramp is in this. Enjoy!

Wrapping up 2008

Some thoughts on the year that was:

- The year went by too fast.

- I did 5 of my 16 New Year's resolutions.

- My sister lit a candle for Granny on Christmas Day. She was with us in the spirit of the season. It was a beautiful day.

- Theatrically, I revisited a hit, and was in a flaming dud.

- I loved CLOVERFIELD.

- I thought THE DARK KNIGHT was too long (and yes, Heath was very very good)

- I'm trying to understand if being a hermit is a good or a bad thing.

- I pretty much avoided the gym like the plague (I hope to do better this year)

- Facebook Facebook Facebook. My God, Facebook. Can I be paid for the amount of time I spent playing your games?

- George Bush is a pig fucker. I can't hardly wait until his presidency ends.

- Barack Obama is not the savior, he is a Democrat and a politician. Yes, history was made, and it feels great. Now let's see what happens.

- I've begun to understand and accept myself better. This pleases some, and causes problems with others. To thine own self be true, right?


Not a deep recap, but a good way to end the thoughts of 2008

And so far in 2009 I have hit two important dates:

A birthday on Jan. 2nd and 2 years of non-smoking today.

I'm most proud of one of those...... ;)
