Why I hate politicians - reason # 2845

Richard Daley responds to an ad from McCain's campaign regarding Obama's Chicago connections/political roots.

(Item A):
The ad described Bill Daley, a former U.S. Commerce secretary, as a "lobbyist" and "the mayor's brother."

(Item B):
"First of all, my brother is not a lobbyist. He's not a lobbyist. He's not a lobbyist. He's never been a lobbyist," the mayor said.

(And the Punchline):
In fact, Bill Daley was a key Washington lobbyist for top U.S. and foreign companies, and President Bill Clinton picked him to lobby Congress for passage of the North American Free Trade Agreement. When he was president of SBC Communications Inc. in 2003 he coordinated lobbying campaigns to sway both state and federal lawmakers.

Some (Not So) Gentle Musings

I went to the doctor yesterday for a physical. Incidentally, I had heard that prostate exams could be done by blood test - I guess my doctor is old school. In any event, he came in after a nurse took my tempurature and blood pressure and weight. He looked at her notes in the computer, then informed me, due to his current weight chart, that I was no longer obese. After politely asking him to repeat himself, he pointed to the chart on the wall behind my head. I have joked about being "Fat", but I did not know I was clinically "obese". Now I am just "overweight". And of course, to NOT be overweight, I would have to attain a poundage not known to my body since 1980.

Overweight it is.

There was an article in the newspaper yesterday, saying that two men were being checked out for threatening Obama via letter. Big deal, yeah, I guess. But how many of you would know that the letters were from Howell, MI and that makes it a very big deal? I had two roommates in college from Howell. At one of our in-home card/drinking nights, it was brought to my attention that the Grand Dragon of the KKK lived there. I don't know if this is still true - I don't know how long their terms are. But you can be sure that whatever these two gentlement wrote Mr. Obama, it wasn't pretty.

I need to rant about theatre. However, I am concerned as to the point of my rant. And I am concerned as to the repercussion.

So, let me say this:

Sometimes you must find a real love for this fickle bitch we call theatre. You cannot fix all the problems by yourself if it isn't your job. You can only do, as my friend Sara says, "your own show".

Act. React. Shine. Do what you are supposed to do.

And remember - not everything you do can be a winner.

Goodness, it's been a while.....
